Dr Andrew Higgins is a veterinarian and a former Director of The Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, UK. He has been involved with many charities and has a passionate interest in the health and welfare of domesticated animals. For 20 years he was Honorary Scientific Adviser to the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and has an interest in medication and doping control in animals. Until recently, he was Editor of The Veterinary Journal and has served as a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN. He has edited two textbooks, one on horses (The Equine Manual) and the other on camels (The Camel in Health and Disease), and also an amusing autobiographical book titled With the SAS and Other Animals about his time working as an army vet in Oman. He has been our Honorary Scientific Adviser since the beginning and makes regular visits to the Park. He is a firm believer in education and the importance of transparency and he helps in the selection and guidance of our Volunteers.
